NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The hunt is on for three teens who beat a man for his coat inside the 157th St subway station in Manhattan.

The NYPD released surveillance video of the vicious assault on Thursday.

Police say the 25-year-old victim was approached by the three suspects who said they liked his jacket and wanted it.

The man refused and that lead to the assault, according to police.

In the video, one of the suspects is seen pulling out nunchucks and repeatedly beating the victim.

Nunchucks are weapons that consist of the sticks connected by rope or chains.  They were popularized in 1970s martial arts films.

The attack took place about 4:15 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013.

The victim was able to flee through the turnstile. He was transported to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital where he was treated and released with lacerations to his head.

Police say the suspects are all believed to be Hispanic teens between the ages of 17-19.  They were all about 5'7" tall and 150 pounds.

Anyone with information about the men involved in the attack is encouraged to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers:
