A veteran Baltimore Ravens cheerleader says she's been sacked from the SuperBowl because she's too fat. Courtney Lenz says she was benched after gaining two pounds. She weighs 124 pounds. Her fans set up a Facebook pageand petition to try to get her to be on the field Sunday. The page has thousands of likes and more than 27,000 people signed the petition. But the Ravens aren't making a change. USA Today reports the Ravens have a squad of 60 cheerleaders and by league rules are only allowed to bring 32 to the game. The Ravens, in a statement to ABC News, say their decision as to who would cheer or not would be based on seniority, performance, and personal conduct during the season.
"Personal conduct" is the sticking point. Lenz tells Access Hollywood she was reprimanded twice during the season for weight fluctuation. Because that's technically "disciplinary action" Lenz suspects that's why she didn't make the cut.
She is the most senior member of the squad, but it's also her last year with the team, she reportedly said this year would be her last. So is she booted for quitting, her weight, or something else going on behind the scenes?
