Jessica Care Moore's band Black Women Rock is getting ready for their show at the Detroit Institute of Arts on February 8.  It's a tribute to Betty Davis, the wife of jazz great Miles Davis.

The show is just one of many events at the DIA this month celebrating black history through art.

"I think African-American artists have done this thing were they're able to let their story be told through their artwork, and I think that people can find so many different ways to connect.  If you're not African-American, if you are African-American, there [are] so many stories there that you can feel a connection to the artist," said Michael Hill.

There will also be story telling, arts and crafts and films for the whole family.
