PHOENIX -

It's one of the most famous jails in the country, run by America's toughest sheriff. In a little over a week, Tent City is where former Diamondbacks player and broadcaster Mark Grace will be spending his nights.

We got an exclusive look inside the tent where Grace will be trying to get some sleep – and it's not some special tent separated from all the other inmates.

He'll be sleeping on a cot right along with everybody else.

While he's not getting special treatment in the jail, there's some question as to whether or not he's getting special treatment from the courts.

It's a long way from the bright lights and cheering crowds. This tent at the Tent City Jail will be home for baseball star Mark Grace for the next four months.

Same mats, same bathrooms, same space as everyone else in here for DUI.

He's a pretty high profile guy. We asked Sheriff Joe Arpaio if he thinks it's dangerous at all for him to be sleeping here with the general population.

"I've had other celebrities here stay in the tents 24 hours a day... I have confidence in my deputies. They'll realize if we have any problems and we'll take action," says Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

Other inmates say they will welcome him with open arms.

"If he did the crime, he should do the time. I don't see it being a problem, I'm here," inmate Lester Thomas told us.

So that's how Grace is the same as all these guys. Here's how he's different.

FOX 10 learned he will get work release 7 days a week -- meaning he's out of there every day from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Officers told us that never happens with other DUI offenders. They have to have at least one day a week where they are locked in all day.

The sheriff says that wasn't his call.

"Whatever the criminal justice system decides. That's not my problem... they usually stay on the weekend, yes."

Video: Well-known DUI attorney Scott Maasen joined us live. He looked at Grace's case, and we asked him, is he getting special treatment here? Press play for his response.
