PHILADELPHIA -

Police say a 90-year-old man is in critical condition and an 82-year-old woman is in stable condition after the car they were in was hit by another car fleeing from a separate road rage incident.

The incident started in the area of the 2200 block of Bryn Mawr Avenue just before 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say a blue Buick Park Avenue driven by a 25-year-old man hit a white Nissan Maxima driven by a 29-year-old man. According to police, the blue Buick attempted to flee the scene.

While being followed by the white Nissan, the blue Buick continued to drive until police say the car crashed into three parked cars, including a gold Honda, at a Produce Junction store not far from the initial accident.

It was the gold Honda that the 90-year-old and 82-year-old victims were driving. Police say the couple was trapped inside when the accident happened.

Police say after the blue Buick collided with the Nissan, the two drivers got out and got into an altercation.

Police say the drivers of the Buick and the Nissan were taken into custody. The two victims were rushed to Hahnemann Hospital. The 90-year-old man, police say, suffered broken ribs and an injury to his chest.
