Kimberly Holmes Wiggins is happy to call Central Florida home, and to be back in the warm weather! She joined Fox35 in December 2012.
Kimberly likes to say she's a "Texan with a kick!" She was born in Houston, but four years later, her dad's job transferred him to Saudi Arabia. Her parents and siblings spent the next ten years in Dhahran. "Ahlan wa Sahlan!" Her Arabic is pretty rusty, but she still remembers the basics.
Right before landing in Central Florida, she was the weekend anchor and special projects reporter at WXIX in Cincinnati. She covered a vast range of issues in her in-depth reports, and anchored and produced the weekend evening newscasts. Prior to working in the Queen City, Kimberly was the weekend anchor at WBOC in Salisbury, Md. There, she learned how to do it all, including: reporting, anchoring, producing, and even shooting and editing many of her own stories-- many times, all in the same day! She also had the honor of covering issues of religion, race, and morality for the series "Heart and Soul." Her first story for the franchise focused on the "Power of Prayer." It was nationally recognized with an award from the Religion Newswriters Association.
Like most journalists, her career began behind the scenes and with a number of internships. Kimberly worked as an associate producer at WPLG in Miami and as a field producer, who interviewed countless federal lawmakers and newsmakers, at Bloomberg Television in Washington, D.C. She also had internships at WTVD in Durham and KXAS in Dallas.
Kimberly graduated from Duke University in 2002 with a degree in Public Policy Studies. She later received her master¹s degree in journalism from Columbia University. Kimberly is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the National Association of Black Journalists.
You can catch her during the week reporting for the late evening newscasts. When she's not reporting, Kimberly loves to cook (and eat,) travel, hang out with friends and family, and volunteer in the community. Throughout the years, she's been a mentor, volunteered with Big Brothers, Big Sisters and been a Girl Scout Troop Leader. You'll also often find her out and about with her husband Rasheed and their dog Lola.
Kimberly truly loves to tell stories, so e-mail her anytime if you have an idea or comment.
