Band Teacher Accused Of Sexually Abusing Student

Posted: Updated:

Diamond Bar -- A high school assistant band teacher was arrested Wednesday for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old female student.

Albert Anthony Morales, 33, was taken into custody at his home in Diamond Bar on and booked on sodomy charges, said Sgt. Richard Pena of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

We're told his case is being laid out before DA's investigators this morning.

Sgt. Dan Scott with the Special Victims Unit says Morales has been a music teacher at Diamond Ranch High School in Diamond Bar for a year. He also worked at Diamond Bar High School from 1998 to 2000 and Sunny Hills High School in Fullerton from 2004 to 2009.

Scott says that "during that time (at Sunny Hills High School) he befriended the 16-year-old girl, and she would come to his place on weekends."

He added that they'd party and drink "and, that led to sex."

Fast forward to 2013. That woman is now 22. Scott says that because she saw a presentation on sexual molestation, she decided to come forward to report what she alleges happened with the teacher.

You might wonder if there is a statute of limitations. When asked about that by a reporter Scott said "not in this case."

Scott says since Morales has taught at several schools there could be other victims and, if there are, he hopes they'll contact the LA Sheriff's Department's Special Victims Bureau at (877) 710-5273.
