The World Chili Eating Challenge is taking place this weekend as part of the Orlando Chili Cook Off, and champion competitive eater Joey Chestnut joined Good Day Orlando to help us with a hot dog-eating contest of our own!
Chestnut will be a guest at the World Chili Eating Challenge, starting at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Orlando Festival Park at 2911 E. Robinson Street. The top five competitors will win cash prizes, including $1,750 to the winner. The winner of a People's Choice award will earn $1,500. The Orlando Chili Cook Off is from noon-6 p.m.
Chestnut is a six-time winner of the Nathan's Famous hot dog-eating contest in New York. His first win came in 2007, when he downed 66 hot dogs in 12 minutes. In 2006, Chestnut ate 47 grilled-cheese sandwiches in 10 minutes, and in 2011, he consumed 9 pounds, 5 ounces of deep-fried asparagus spears in 10 minutes.
