An 88-year-old Delaware man died Sunday morning after state police say his car veered off the road in Newark.
According to police, the driver was identified as 88-year-old Charles Yenkevich of Newark.
Police say Yenkevich was driving a 2004 Chrysler PT cruiser westbound on Ogletown Stanton Road, west of Cheswold Boulevard, when it veered off the road, over the curb and into some bushes just before 9 a.m.
Police say Yenkevich was rushed to Christiana Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators say Yenkevich was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Troopers are continuing to investigate the crash.
The westbound lanes of the Atlantic City Expressway were closed for several hours on Sunday after a single vehicle accident sent several people to the hospital.
