LONGWOOD, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
A massive search for a missing 12-year-old girl is over. The search that had family, friends and neighbors out until around 11 p.m. ended with the safe return of Amanda McKenna.
The search for the pre-teen started Sunday evening when a crowd of 100 plus people covered the Longwood neighborhood looking for her. Amanda McKenna's family was worried because they hadn't seen her since Sunday afternoon when she left her home at 110 Palmetto Court in Longwood.
Detectives said that Amanda left her home with the intent to go for a walk in a wooded area near Sable Point Elementary School. However, her family and friends haven't heard from her since she was last seen walking northbound on East Lake Brantley Drive near Nob Hill Drive around 1:45 p.m.
Amanda has since been found and reunited with her family. She was found near Lake Brantley Drive at approximately 10:30 p.m. in good condition and is being reunited with her family.
