17-Year-Old Found Slain After Chester County Apartment Fire

NORTH COVENTRY TWP., Pa. -

Authorities say they have a homicide investigation on their hands after a 17-year-old was found dead at the scene of an apartment fire Tuesday night in Chester County.

The body of Kevin Allen, of Norristown, was located following a fire that broke out around 7 p.m. inside the Hanover Garden Apartments in North Coventry Township, according to the Chester County District Attorney's Office.

Police and fire personnel responded to a 911 call, and they found the body while quickly extinguishing the fire.

A local newspaper reported that detectives found blood smeared on the wall leading up to the second-story apartment, where the fire occurred.

Visible on the door to one of the apartments is where police dusted for fingerprints.

Neighbors say they were evacuated for some two-and-a-half hours last night, and now they're pretty shaken up about the discovery made after the fire was out.

FOX 29's Dawn Timmeney filed this video report live from the scene on Wednesday morning.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information should call North Coventry police at 610-323-8360 or Chester County detectives at 610-692-5100.
