The mother of "American Idol" winner and Georgia native Phillip Phillips was arrested on a DUI charge on Thursday afternoon, Dougherty County Jail officials confirm.

Investigators in Albany say an undercover unit observed Cheryl Phillips swerving her van across lanes of traffic on Thursday afternoon.  

Authorities say she was unable to perform a field sobriety test.

Cheryl Phillips is charged with failure to maintain lane and DUI less safe.

The Idol winner's mom appeared on several episodes last season.

The Albany Herald provided FOX 5 with a picture of Cheryl Phillips being led to jail.
