St. Cloud man charged in murder of infant son

Posted: Updated:

An Osceola County man was charged with first-degree murder after he told detectives that he killed his infant son.

Larry Perry, 28, told a befuddled 911 operator that his son needed medical attention, just moments after he claimed he caused fatal injuries to the 3-month old baby.

"Yeah, I hurt my baby," he said.  "I pretty much went crazy.  I can't do this [expletive] by myself," said Perry in the phone call recording.

Emergency crews took baby Adyn from his apartment on 14th Street in St Cloud via medical helicopter to Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital in Orlando, but he did not survive.

Police said Perry told them that, at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Adyn wouldn't drink his bottle or go to sleep.  The father, standing 5 feet, 10 inches and weighing 185 pounds, told police that he threw the baby against the wall, the bed, kicked him, and then twisted his neck.

"Watching TV, all of sudden, I hear this noise," said a next door neighbor.  "I didn't know he slammed the baby against the wall."

The neighbor said she frequently asked Perry about the baby, ever since she said the mother of the child was jailed a month ago.

"You know I always told him, 'If you need a babysitter, bring him to me, cuz I'm only next door to you.'"

The mother of the child, who is currently incarcerated at the Osceola County Jail for unrelated charges, has been notified of the child's death.

The Florida Department of Children and Families reminds parents who may have a difficult time raising and caring for their children to call 1-800-96-ABUSE (22873) for resources and help.
