More snow on the way amid fallout over LI cleanup

Posted: Updated:

BROOKHAVEN, N.Y. (AP) — More snow is on the way as the fallout continues from the lackluster blizzard cleanup on eastern Long Island.

The Feb. 8 blizzard dumped about 30 inches in Suffolk County. The National Weather Service says another few inches could accumulate there over the weekend.

After criticism about the storm response, the state has suspended two Department of Transportation officials on Long Island.

A highway official in Brookhaven resigned after complaints from residents who waited days for plows.

The Brookhaven supervisor apologized for vacationing in Jamaica during the storm. But he blamed the inadequate response on the departed highway official.
