LAKE MARY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
A brush fire in Seminole County caused a smoky scene late Sunday afternoon. Seminole County Firefighters first arrived to the scene of the fire off of Markham Woods road around 3 p.m.
The blaze that originally started as two to three acres wide was burning in some woods near just 400 yards away from homes in Magnolia Plantation Neighborhood. However, the flames weren't close enough to prompt any evacuations.
However, the fire quickly moved and burned roughly 50 acres. Firefighters circled the flames and dropped water from a helicopter.
At this time it is unclear how the fire started, but Seminole County Fire says that the fire shouldn't threaten homes overnight.
