Los Angeles, CA -

(CNS) The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today for the 24th consecutive day, increasing 2.4 cents to $4.28, its highest amount since Oct. 26 and the highest in the state.

The average price has increased 53 cents during the 24-day streak, the longest since a 27-day streak from Feb. 7-March 4, 2012, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 12.3 cents more than one week ago, 55.1 cents higher than one month ago and 28.4 cents greater than one year ago. The Orange County average price rose for the 24th consecutive day, increasing 2.5 cents to $4.269, the highest amount since Oct. 26 and second highest in the state.

The Orange County average price is 12.7 cents more than one week ago, 56.3 cents higher than one month ago and 28 cents greater than one year ago. The Orange County average price has risen 55.1 cents during the streak, the longest since a 27-day streak from Feb. 5-March 2, 2012.

The increasing prices are the result of reduced supplies caused by low levels of production in Southern California stemming from refinery maintenance, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
