Man tied up, beaten in Phoenix home invasion

Posted: Updated:

A 62-year-old man, the victim of a violent home invasion, suffered serious injuries Monday. Police say he was beaten, tied up, and then left in a shed.

It happened on a county island near 19th Ave and Jomax, in a rural area off a dirt road.

Charles Little, 62, was able to free himself and run to the aid of his neighbors, Hayden and Valerie Hamilton. There, he called 911.

"It sounded like someone was breaking into my house, I heard some hollering," says Valerie Hamilton.

"First thing he said was, do I have a gun, cause he was going to jump back over the wall and shoot these guys," says Hayden Hamilton. "They beat him up, tied him up with duct tape. Then he escaped and they caught him again, beat him up some more, and as they were ransacking the house he was able to get out of that and jump through his back window."

Hayden was amazed his neighbor Little was able to climb over his 6-foot fence. When he got to their house, there was duct tape still hanging from his leg, and one side of his face was covered in blood.

"His eye was real bad. He was cut all over and I think he broke some ribs."

Little had been working on some cars in a shed in the backyard when two men with a gun attacked him.

The men made off with the homeowner's white pickup, two Harley Davidson motorcycles, and a TV. They loaded them onto a trailer and drove off in Little's truck.

"This is a peaceful neighborhood... I'm sure they'll get caught. He has a lot of information," says Hamilton.

Hamilton says his neighbor owns a construction business, so there is a lot of traffic going in and out of his house.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is investigating. The men have been described as two white males -- one heavy set with dark hair, the other with brown hair and a medium build.

No arrests have been made. Though badly hurt, Little is in stable condition.
