GROVELAND, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
Euthanizing unwanted cats and dogs at animal shelters happens nearly every day, in every Florida county. It's a problem costing taxpayers nearly $100 million dollars each year.
Some estimate that Florida shelters euthanize 80,000 animals a year, and consider the cost to taxpayers is roughly $300 to end the life of just one cat or dog.
Those numbers, and lives now, have animal lovers asking state lawmakers to step-in and address the issue. FOX 35's Chase Cain takes a closer look at the problem and a solution that's already proven to work.
