Gay man attacked on subway

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The NYPD has opened a hate crime investigation after a gay man was attacked on the subway on the Upper West Side.

Police say it happened Monday at 6 p.m. on a No. 2 train.

Two women got into an argument with a gay couple.  Police say the argument escalated and the two women and another man attacked the 23-year-old victim.

He suffered lacerations to his face and his left eye was swollen shut. His partner was not hurt.

The victims got off of the train at 96th street.

Police have not made any arrests.
