Police: 1 arrested in shooting death of Clayton Co. taxi cab driver

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -
Clayton County police say they have made one arrest, and are searching for another suspect in the shooting death of a taxi cab driver last month.
Police say Desmond Brandon Nixon was arrested on a sexual assault charge, and he was a person of interest in the shooting death of cab driver Rosendo Casarrubias. Investigators were able to connect Nixon to the shooting. He faces a host of charges, including murder, aggravated assault, and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
According to police in Clayton County, they received a 911 call from a resident concerning a suspicious vehicle in the 200 block of Brookview Drive in the College Condos around 1:30 a.m. on January 25.
When the officers arrived they found the driver side window of the cab shattered, and Casarrubias shot in the head. Medical crews on the scene could not revive him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say they have obtained warrants for a second suspect in the case, Julius Ryan Thomas. He has been charged with felony murder, false statements and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
