Made in Michigan: Westborn Markets

Posted: Updated:
BERKLEY, Mich. (WJBK) -

Fresh, made in Michigan, and family owned, Westborn Market offers prepared foods, party trays, a florist and more. Westborn Market sells local products and is both affordable and healthy. The market offers fresh produce, high quality meats, party trays, catering, wine, beer and more.

"We're pretty excited about putting our name on products that are produced right here in our own state," said Mark Anusbigian, family member of Westborn Market. "When you come in our stores, it's like going into our home, so the commitment to caring is I think what's helped set us apart." Westborn Market believes in loving what they do, loving customers, and loving the supplies. Mark Anusbigian and his two brothers inherited the company from his father and uncle, continuing the tradition of family business.

The idea behind the market began in 1963 as a partnership with farmers. The Anusbigian family would pick up produce from farmers in bushel baskets and crates, then take them right back to the store. Prior to the store, the market was a corner fruit stand. More than 40 years later, the stores reflect a unique combination of the freshest produce, choice meats, gourmet groceries, beautiful flowers and fine wines.

Westborn Market also hosts the Champagne Cruise to benefit Forgotten Harvest, metro Detroit's only mobile food rescue organization.
