Montgomery County, Pa. -

A brazen attempted burglary in Blue Bell has shattered some residents' sense of safety.

Police in Whitpain say they are looking for three men who attempted to force their way into a home wearing sweatshirts that had the word "police" on them.

The incident happened shortly after 1 p.m. on Monday at a home on the 1800 block of Meredith Lane.

Police say three men tried to open up a front door and then attempted to push the door in when the resident opened it.

Lena Gellenber lives next to the targeted home. She says after hearing a knock on the door, the victim may have gotten lulled into a false sense of security.

"She said one was wearing a hooded jacket that had "police" across it. She could see through the glass so she went to open the door."

Turns out the three men at the door weren't cops at all.

"She said they tried to push the door in. Luckily she said she was able to push it back and call 911."

Police say no one was injured.

If you have any information, you're asked to call the Whitpain Police Department at 610-279-9033.
