ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
A 17-year-old boy is dead after being stabbed inside his home just across the street from Azalea Park Elementary School in Orlando.
The stabbing happened just before 12:30 p.m. Thursday at a home on the corner of Carol Avenue and Ira Streets in Orlando.
Police Sgt. Jim Young said there were other people inside the home at the time of the stabbing.
"At this point, our detectives are interviewing everyone to see what happened in this case, and we're still very early in this investigation."
The victim had two brothers; one was a twin. The boy's mother and grandmother also lived in the small home, neighbors said.
Young said his officers have been here many times before.
"Our detectives have to interview the people that have been taken to the police department. At this time, we don't have any suspect information, and once our investigators conduct their interviews with those folks, our investigators will be back on the scene to continue to examine the scene."
Parents of kids who go to Azalea Park Elementary said they were worried.
"I've only lived in this neighborhood for six months, but it's really odd to me, because I've never seen any crime around my neighborhood since I've lived there," Bonnie Talent said. "I don't like it, especially when it's right across from my son's school."
"It's really surprising," another parent, Johnny John, said. "I've been out here for the last five years, and I've never heard anything like that."
John has two boys who play ball in the Azalea Park Little League.
Orlando Police have not yet released the name of the victim.
