NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

An elderly man was killed and at least three others were injured in a fire that ripped through an apartment building on Ross Street in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.

The fire erupted at about 3:15 a.m. on Friday in the 13-story building of the Taylor St.-Wythe Ave. Houses.

The flames were brought under control at about 4 a.m.

The NYPD says the 78-year-old victim suffered severe body trauma.

Firefighters remained on the scene.

It is not clear what sparked the inferno.

On January 26, firefighters found a 78-year-old woman dead inside an apartment on the 12th floor. She was severely burned, said firefighters. No other apartments were damaged in the fire.
