Police: Off-Duty Officer Shoots Man With Autism, Caretaker

We're following breaking news out of Camden, where police say an off-duty officer shot a man with autism and his caretaker.

SkyFOX was live over the 2800 block of Arthur Avenue around dinnertime Friday.

Officials tell FOX 29 a 21-year-old man with autism was dropped off at home by a caretaker. The autistic man went to the officer's home instead and tried to get in.

The officer says he thought someone was trying to break in, so he opened fire, hitting the man with autism in the arm.

His caretaker was seriously hurt and rushed to Cooper Hospital.

The officer is on administrative leave. We'll bring you more information as it comes into our newsroom.
