Studio City, CA -
Justin
Carr was a great kid! That's what everyone at Harvard-Westlake HS says. Friday,
during an after school workout in the school's pool, his
heart stopped. He had a condition called cardiomyopathy that can suddenly cause
cardiac arrest.
Today, at the school, there was an assembly to remember the 16
year old as a positive influence who was involved in many school activities and
had many friends. Now, over 1000 people have joined a Facebook "RIP Justin
Carr" page to say just what a great kid he was!

(CNS) A community mourned the death today of a student athlete who died during a workout in the Studio City school's pool.
"The entire Harvard-Westlake community is mourning the loss of Justin Carr, a beloved friend and student," read a statement from the school regarding the death, which occurred Friday. "Our hearts are broken. Justin had an enormous impact on students and teachers, and he will be missed profoundly," the statement said.
The boy was described as a scholar, athlete, singer, actor, "ebullient child," and "extraordinary young man by any measure."
Harvard-Westlake officials said Carr's parents told the school initial autopsy results indicate the boy suffered from cardiomyopathy, a weakening of his heart muscle that can result in sudden cardiac death.
"Harvard-Westlake requests the media respect the privacy of the family and the school community during this difficult time," officials said.
