ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
The City of Orlando is exploring a deal with the Orlando Magic to redevelop property adjacent to the Amway Arena.
It appears that the Magic will proceed with a study of just what they can do with the 3.3 acres, on which sits a city parking garage and the Orlando Police Department's headquarters.
Orlando Commissioner Tony Ortiz worked in the police headquarters for over a decade and said the force could use new, state-of-art facilities. "That building is old. The technology is old. Law enforcement that we have this day and age is technology-driven. We need a building that will be technology-driven too."
One possible plan for redevelopment of the city block might include a hotel and headquarters for the Magic, including office space and a fan experience.
