Orlando Police are looking for a suspect who they say brutally attacked two women with a bat early Sunday morning near a downtown condominium complex.
"I got down there, and she was already laying on the ground injured," said Joel Wilson, who witnessed the getaway.
Wilson said when he heard the screams from his fourth-floor condo unit early Sunday morning, he rushed to his balcony to see what was going on.
"There was gentleman jumping into a white car. He was on the left side of the car and had what appeared to be a bat or a large stick in his hand," Wilson said.
According to police, that man attacked two women, hitting them over the head with a baseball bat right outside the gate of The Grande condominiums on South Street and Liberty Avenue, where one of the women lives.
Officers say the suspect -- dressed in a shirt and tie -- then grabbed a purse from one of the women before fleeing in a white Honda.
Wilson says he rushed downstairs after witnessing the getaway from his balcony.
"She was on the ground. She was laying on her back on the ground... She had blood on the side of her head, blood on her shirt, or dress, I couldn't tell," Wilson said. "She was covered in blood. And the girl across the street was hurt pretty bad too."
Residents at the condo complex received flyers from management alerting them of the attack.
"It kind of gives you a little bit of an uneasy feeling because it's your home," said Erica Hoion, who lives at the complex. "You don't really expect to have something like that happen."
Police describe the attacker as a 5-foot-7 or 5-8 man about 30 years old, with very close-cut, light-brown hair, almost shaved. He was last seen wearing a blue button-down, long-sleeved shirt with a tie and black pants.
Officers say they have surveillance video of the incident but are not yet releasing it. Anyone with information should call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
