Police investigate body parts found in bags on Eagle Avenue in the Bronx.
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -
A man accused of killing and dismembering his mother appeared at his arraignment on a murder charge wearing a large garbage bag.
Bahsid McLean was held without bail following his Bronx court appearance on Thursday.
His attorney said his client had been urinating on himself and had no other clean clothing. He says McLean is off medication, and will undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
Police identified the victim as Tanya Bird, 45, who was reported missing Monday.
McLean, 23, reportedly confessed to killing his mother and then changed his story and blamed another man.
Authorities charged McLean with hindering prosecution and unlawful dissection of a human body.
McLean's friend, William Harris, 26, faces hindering prosecution, unlawful dissection of a human body, criminal possession of stolen property, and unlawful possession of pot, police said.
Bird was cut up into several pieces, which were found in bags over several blocks in the Melrose section Tuesday morning. A leg sticking out of a bag could be seen in video taken at the scene.
McLean allegedly told cops that he killed his mother because she wanted him to grow up and move out, a source told the Post.
A man walking his dog said the dog sniffed one of the bags, he opened it and made the gruesome discovery front of 660 East 158th Street, according to an Associated Press report.
The NYPD said the remains were discovered in four bags and included an arm, part of a torso, a head, and more.
