'Lookout' in Ocoee witness murder pleads guilty, to turn state's witness

Posted: Updated:

A man authorities say was a getaway driver and lookout in an Ocoee home-invasion murder pleaded guilty to burglary in an Orange County courtroom this morning and will testify against the murder's alleged ringleader.

Investigators say Nesly Ciceron, 29, drove ringleader Bessman Okafor to the Ocoee home where Okafor killed a witness set to testify against him in a previous home-invasion case.

Ciceron explained to the court his version of the events of September 10, 2012, when Alex Zaldivar was killed and two others hurt when the three were shot, execution-style, in the home.

In court today, Ciceron said he and Okafor went back into the house to make sure they finished the job. Ciceron pleaded guilty to burglary and other charges but not murder.

The triple-shooting happened just one day before the trial against Okafor in the previous home-invasion case was set to begin.

Court documents show that Ciceron told investigators that he stayed as a lookout in front of the Ocoee home for several minutes until he got nervous and ended up leaving. He allegedly told investigators he didn't know what Okafor intended to do that day, but days later, Okafor confessed the crime to him.

Ciceron is charged with principal to murder in Zaldivar's death. Okafor is charged with first-degree murder and could face the death penalty.
