Porn Lecture Stirs Up Fuss On California College Campus

Pasadena, CA -

For students enrolled in "Navigating Pornography" this semester, news that a professional porn star, would be one of the guest lecturers was met with excitement. After all, James Deen is not only one of the hottest rising stars in the adult movie industry but also an alumnus of Pasadena City College.

James Deen, who's real name is Bryan Mathew Sevilla, has starred in thousands of films including "A---- Plungers", "A Big T--Christmas 3" and "Gangbanged 4 & 5". Most recently he co-starred with Lindsay Lohan in Brett Easton Ellis' mainstream film, "The Canyans."

When the course instructor invited Deen to speak to students he opened it up to the public and the press so the community would be able to join in the discussion. "We ought to be proud to welcome home any alumni who have enjoyed the kind of success James Deen has enjoyed," said course instructor, Hugo Schwyzer.

But the school reportedly received dozens of complaints for hosting the well-known porn star. Rather than pull out altogether, the administration decided to move his lecture to a small classroom allowing only students enrolled in the course to attend.

"What the college is doing here in many ways illustrates the problem, we're all aware that porn is around us, but there's all this shame and secrecy (we're told to) do it in private but don't have a serious thoughtful and intellectual discussion about it," says Schwyzer.

No one from Pasadena City College could be reached for comment. Students we spoke to either didn't know the porn actor was coming or didn't seem to care.

As for James Deen, he posted the following on his Twitter account on Tuesday: "@JamesDeen: I somehow accidentally pissed off hundreds of people with the mere mention of my presence.... I am proud. See you tomorrow pasadena :-)"

(AP) One of the adult film industry's hottest stars is going back to school - and some in the community are said to be none too happy about that. Pasadena City College professor Hugo Schwyzer says he's invited porn star James Deen to speak on campus Wednesday.

But Schwyzer said Tuesday that officials have ordered him to move Deen's talk from the Campus Center, which seats several hundred people, to a classroom that holds only 50.

Schwyzer must also limit Deen's lecture to the students in his humanities class. If he doesn't, he was told he could expect 100 or more angry protesters. A campus official says Schwyzer didn't get the proper permits.

Deen, meanwhile, says he's still looking forward to speaking at the college.

He was once a student there.
