PATH to resume weekend World Trade Center service

Posted: Updated:

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - PATH trains are about to resume service on a line that has been out of service on weekends since Superstorm Sandy.

Port Authority officials say starting Friday, weekend service to and from the World Trade Center will up and running.

Officials had been waiting for a shipment of replacement parts necessary to restoring service on the line.

Salt water flooded the Hoboken tunnels during Sandy, shorting out electrical system and corroding equipment.

Officials say many of the parts were decades old and replacements had to come from a third-party manufacturer.
