FHP: Train collides with unoccupied SUV

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

A CSX train slammed into an SUV on tracks crossing over Glenrose Road a block off S. Orange Ave. around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

From the beginning of the investigation, it was an odd case.  "Definitely weird!" said Sgt. Kim  Montes with the Florida Highway Patrol.  "The driver didn't stick around to tell us what their side of the story was."

The SUV was unoccupied when it was struck by the train, investigators say.  Troopers found a purse left behind on the front seat, but they have not identified the owner.  FHP said a phone call was received by authorities notifying them that a woman was picked up at the location of the collision.

"We don't know if this was a vehicle that was purposely driven on the tracks.  We don't know if this vehicle was accidentally left there.  We don't know if the vehicle stalled," said Montes.
