NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

A subway train hit a man who was sitting on the platform at the 145th Street station on the No. 1 line Friday evening, police said.

The 50-year-old man's legs were dangling over the edge of the platform when a southbound train hit him, authorities said.

Medics rushed the man to St. Luke's Hospital in extremely critical condition, the FDNY said.

The incident caused delays on subway service for some time.
