ORMOND BEACH (AP) - Some residents of Ormond Beach are back in their homes after officials say a wildfire that consumed more than 1,000 acres has been mostly contained.
Officials said the Durrance Fire along the Volusia and Flagler county line had consumed about 1,100 acres and had threatened about 250 homes. Volusia Fire spokeswoman Pat Kuehn said the fire is about 85 percent contained.
Firefighters from Volusia and Flagler counties and the Florida Forest Service will rejoin Ormond Beach firefighters this morning to reinforce lines and continue mopup efforts.
About 130 firefighters battled the blaze, which started Saturday morning. The cause remains under investigation.
