A Brevard County grand jury indicted a Melbourne man Tuesday with first-degree premeditated murder for the killing of Leah Yoresh, also of Melbourne.

Matthew James Sharp, 22, has been held in the Brevard County jail without bond since his arrest on February 8.

Yoresh, 35, was discovered deceased at her home at 1433 Albert Drive on January 11 after her friends hadn't heard from her. Melbourne police and the Brevard County Medical Examiner later determined she died two days earlier.

Police say blood on Sharp's shoes matched Yoresh's DNA.

In addition to the murder charge, Sharp was indicted for grand theft of a motor vehicle and fraudulent use of a credit card.

The grand jury heard testimony from the medical examiner, a Melbourne Police detective, a Melbourne crime scene technician and two lay witnesses, said Assistant State Attorney Michael Hunt.

Sharp is scheduled to go before a judge today.
