KISSIMMEE, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
A Kissimmee mother has been arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse after police say she burned her 4-year-old daughter's hands on a stove as punishment over spilled bleach.
The child has second-degree burns on the tops of both of her hands, police say.
Officers on Sunday responded to a home on Ernest Street at the request of the Department of Children and Families. The agency had received a report that a child living at the residence had been burned by her mother, Yashira Estrella-Ramos.
During the investigation, the child told police investigators that her mother burned her hands with the stove, because she was mad that the child spilled bleach in the laundry room. The child demonstrated to investigators how she was burned.
Estrella-Ramos, 32, was transported to the Osceola County Jail and held on $5,000 bond.
