A measure to help fund the U.S. government through September now heads to the Senate after passing the House on Wednesday.
Last night, 12 Republican senators met President Barack Obama for dinner with his focus on the budget.
One of those senators was Pennsylvania' Pat Toomey.
Obama picked up the tab for Wednesday night's dinner at a hotel restaurant, not far from the White House. The president hopes to jumpstart budget talks and rally support for his proposals on immigration and gun control.
On Thursday morning, Senator Toomey joined "Good Day" live from Washington to talk about the dinner and discussion.
