Deputies in Polk County say one of their own has resigned after being arrested for driving under the influence.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies responded to Fuzzy's Bar on North Scenic Highway in Lake Wales after a pickup truck crashed into an unoccupied parked car late Wednesday night. When they arrived, they found off-duty Deputy Robin Mills in her personal Ford F-350 truck, and she appeared to be impaired.
The sheriff's office said Mills, 43, failed field sobriety tests, so she was taken to the Polk County Jail on one count of DUI with property damage. She was released this morning on $500 bond and subsequently submitted her letter of resignation.
Mills was hired in March 1995 as a telecommunicator at PCSO. She became a deputy sheriff in September 1998. She was most recently assigned to Southeast District patrol.
