ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
An Orlando Police officer was arrested Thursday after authorities say he submitted false time sheets for an extra-duty job for which he never showed up.
Officer Bryant Almeida faces grand theft and fraud charges and was taken to the Orange County Jail.
Police say the arrest stems from a complaint received in October 2012 from a property manager at Highland Oaks Apartments alleging that an officer assigned to work extra-duty hours at the complex was not actually on the property for which they were being compensated by the city.
A criminal investigation later revealed that Almeida was submitting pay invoices for claimed work between June 2011 to August 2012.
A separate internal investigation is ongoing, police said in a statement.
