A teenage boy was fatally shot in the head Friday afternoon on the South Side.
The 17-year-old was shot about 3:45 p.m. in the 1900 block of East 79th Street, said police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala, citing preliminary information.
Two men got out of a vehicle and one shot the teen before they fled the scene, police said.
He was taken with a gunshot wound to the head to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he later died, police said.
