There was green as far as the eye could see in Detroit on Sunday, and equally as many smiles out there. The fun was flowing.
Last year some 65,000 people turned out for the annual St. Patrick's Parade.
At the very least, it looked like Sunday's turnout matched that. Some even said it looked like the crowd had grown from last year.
Spectators lined Michigan Avenue for miles to get the perfect spot to catch all of the St. Patty's performances. Some were even lucky enough to have a birds eye view of all the festivities, watching from the second-floor windows of several buildings along the parade route.
Without a doubt, it's an event that truly brings together all sorts of characters in all sorts of costumes. Everyone enjoys the "D," while enjoying each others company.
This was the 55th annual St. Patrick's Parade, and this year was fittingly dedicated to the honor of fallen West Bloomfield Police officer Patrick O'Rourke, whose badge number was 55.
