Jury selection began Monday in the trial of a man accused in the 2012 shooting of a Pine Hills teen as she was leaving church, leaving her wheelchair-bound and in a coma.
Danielle Sampson, a student at Apopka High, was shot in the head in July 2012 as she rode with her parents in a minivan.
Authorities say she was struck by a stray bullet as Tyrone Mosby Jr. shot at a car during a burglary.
Danielle, now 16, is still in a coma but was in the courtroom Monday.
"Hopefully, he will see the reality of what has happened, and there will be some sort of remorse or atonement," Sampson family spokeswoman Nouchelle Hastings said.
Mosby was asked whether he wanted to plead today, but he decided to pick his jury.
