ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
An 18-year-old Orange County woman was kidnapped and held for hours as she walked near her neighborhood Monday afternoon, and a pursuit of the suspect was caught on a helicopter camera, deputies say.
The victim was walking along the 14000 block of Nieves Drive when a male neighbor kidnapped her at knifepoint and tied her up in a nearby residence, according to the Sheriff's Office.
However, the victim managed to free herself and escape. Detectives said she ran to another home nearby in the Vista Del Lago subdivision, and that homeowner called 911.
Despite her ordeal, the victim escaped with only injuries to her wrists.
The suspect, John Kersey, 33, also fled, but Orange County Sheriff's bloodhounds tracked him. Investigators sent up a chase helicopter and tracked him to a nearby home. The takedown was captured on video.
Kersey has been charged with armed kidnapping.
