MOORESTOWN, N.J. -

The Conover family and their dog Bailey left Pet Smart in Moorestown headed home Tuesday and while they didn't pick up a copy of Michael Vick's new book "Finally Free" right next door at Barnes and Noble, they were disturbed by new threats made against Vick.

"Give the man a break, everybody deserves a second chance," Patty Conover told FOX 29

"Leave the poor guy alone," her husband David said. "He paid for his crime."

The threats have caused the cancellation of Vick's March 23rd appearance at this Moorestown Barnes and Noble and another slated for March 26th in Exton, Chester County.

Vick and his family were threatened as well as the stores and their employees.

"When I see you, I'm going to bash your....head in," one person wrote.   In another threat directed at his daughter, the writer said, "We should push your daughter into a pool with a battery."

"Which is terrible because I have a son and he's my world, she shouldn't be getting any repercussions from any of this," said Pet Smart customer Ashley Bermudez.

"It's horrible, I don't agree with that at all, no not at all," Conover added.

"People hold a grudge for the wrong reasons. The man's done his time. He deserves to move," said another customer, Mark Diamond.

In Moorestown, dog lovers who admit they were once angry over Vick's past involvement in  dog fighting, now say he deserves a second chance, not violent death threats.

"There's so many people out there that are really strange today, you gotta' be careful," Conover said.

"Michael Vick, what he did in the past is in the past," said Claude Hill.

Vick sent out a message on Twitter saying, "I appreciate all the love and support...it means a lot to me and my fam," with the hashtag lovemyfans. Barnes and Noble here would not comment.

"Let him enjoy his time with his family and his new dog and leave them alone," Bermudez said.

Philadelphia police are aware of the threats, but they are not investigating.

They have not been asked for any round the clock security on Vick.

The quarterback is not believed to be in Philadelphia right now. Police say they would provide protection at public appearances if the threats were deemed "credible and imminent."
