SORRENTO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
Three people and a dog are dead following a head-on crash in Lake County. Troopers with the Florida Highway patrol say a car slammed into a pick-up truck that was towing a boat near Wekiva River Road and State Road 46 in Sorrento.
According to FHP, thedriver of a white Mustang convertible lost control of the car and spun around into the path ofthe truck. The Mustang was split in half and the pick-up truck became wrapped around atree. The driver of the Mustangwas ejected. He, his passengers and agolden retriever died on impact. Thedriver of the truck is not seriously injured.
The identities of thedeceased have not been released. Thethree men in the Mustang are described as visitors from Illinois in their midto late 30s. Investigators believe speedmay have been a factor in the crash.
