The U.S. Coast Guard spent more than $1.3 million looking for the Apopka boater who went missing February 6 and mysteriously turned up a month later, the Orlando Sentinel is reporting.
Bernardo Hernandez launched his boat at a New Smyrna Beach boat ramp for a fishing trip that day and was not heard from again until March 4, when, according to New Smyrna Beach Police, Hernandez placed call to his family from Avon Park -- more than 130 miles from where he went missing.
It's unclear whether he'll be asked to pick up the tab for the almost 13,000-square mile search for him in the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway.
