Suspect Charged In Winslow Fatal Hit-And-Run

Posted: Updated:
WINSLOW TWP., N.J. -

The Camden County prosecutor's office has filed charges against 54 year-old Joseph D. Thornton in connection with Saturday's deadly hit and run accident in Winslow Township.

Thornton was behind the wheel if a Pontiac Grand Am when it struck 59-year-old Ezekeil Tomboyeke along Pump Branch Road 11:30 p.m. Saturday night.

An anonymous tip led police to Thornton's home on Sunday morning.  The Pontiac had visible damage from the accident.

Police say Tomboyeke was walking home from a nearby bus stop after a night of work when he was hit.

On Sunday night, the victim's family gathered to grieve.

Tomboyeke is a native of Sierra Leone. He worked six days a week at two jobs to support his wife and five children back in Africa.

FOX 29's Steve Keeley has more details from Winslow Township.
