A day after Twitter and Facebook were flooded with reports of the ground shaking in areas along the Jersey Shore, the exact cause of the shaking is still not known.
On Wednesday, officials from Joint base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst told FOX 29 they have investigated the reported shaking but have not been able to track down a cause.
The National Earthquake Information Center also reportedly did not record any seismic activity in that area.
Residents in the Cape May County area and others reported the shaking Tuesday afternoon.
Waking up to dense fog today. Poor visibility slowing us down.
But at least it's mild. Temps are about 15-degrees above average today, despite the continued clouds & drizzle. High in the lower 60s.
Our next cold front comes through tomorrow, with rain, especially on Friday afternoon. With the blast of cold air that follows, we'll probably have a dry day on Saturday, and the chance of a Sunday wintry mix into the afternoon and evening. Stay tuned!
