FAA won't appeal DOT ruling on airport bids

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA, Ga. -

The Federal Aviation Administration says it won't appeal a state Department of Transportation ruling on airport bids.

The fight was over whether key supporters of Mayor Kasim Reed should be considered disadvantaged minority businesses at the airport.

The four food companies included former Mayor Maynard Jackson's widow, their daughter and Mayor Reed's first campaign chairman, Daniel Halpern.

Earlier this year, the FAA said the four companies weren't disadvantaged and should be decertified.

The DOT then investigated and found the four companies did qualify.

The FAA's latest statement appears to  put the issue to bed.
